Meet Dr. Jess
I did not plan to become the doctor who talks about poop for a living.
Most people do not. Sit with it long enough and you realize the body's most unglamorous systems are the ones running the whole show.
I first decided I was going to be a doctor the day the Magic School Bus shrank down and went inside the human body. And that was that. Pre-med, the coursework, the clinical hours.
The clinical hours are what broke it open for me. I kept meeting people on a medication for the side effects of another medication, who could not remember what the first one was for. Nobody was asking why. I started to feel that quiet dissonance of oh...This is not the medicine I came here for.
I shadowed a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) about two hours from my hometown. She was a little crunchy, deeply trained, and the first provider I had ever watched actually listen. She was not chasing symptoms. She was looking for homeostasis. I had not heard a doctor use that word in a sentence before.
Then my own body got my attention. Years of unexplained anxiety, a cycle I could not make sense of, and digestion concerns I was told were just my anxiety. I finally sat across from an ND who asked the questions I had been waiting a decade for someone to ask. We found the root of it. I got my life back.
Tolle causam.
Identify and address the cause.
Most of my clients have been at the symptom level for years without anyone asking the questions that would reveal the root.
My focus is on regularity, bowel and cycle, because the two are inseparable and almost nobody supports them as one system.
The gut and the hormones are in constant conversation.
The nervous system is holding all of it together.
We look at the whole picture.
A lot of my work is with people who feel a little defeated by the system that was supposed to help them. If that is you, you are exactly who I built this practice for.
If this reads like someone you want to work with, let's talk.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
All services are out-of-pocket and not billed to insurance directly. HSA and FSA cards may be accepted depending on your individual plan. If you are unsure, checking with your plan administrator before purchasing is a good idea.
-
Yes. Sessions are conducted online through Practice Better, so location is generally not a barrier. Test kits are available for shipping within the US and select international locations. If you are outside the US and interested in a testing package, reach out before purchasing to confirm availability in your area.
-
That's a fair question and one worth sitting with.
The honest answer is that this may or may not be different, and that's part of what the free info call is for. What tends to matter is whether the root of what's driving your symptoms has actually been looked at. A lot of approaches address symptoms without much investigation into what's underneath them. The work here starts with testing so that any recommendations are based on what your body is actually doing, not a general protocol.
-
All purchases are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule a session, please do so at least 48 hours in advance. If you have questions before purchasing, the free info call is a good place to start.
-
Yes, I welcome most concerns! Gut and hormone health are the focus here, and they connect to a wide range of concerns including skin, energy, mood, cycle irregularities, and more. If you are unsure whether your situation is a good fit, the free info call is the best place to sort that out.
-
That is completely fine.
The sessions are educational in nature and are not a replacement for any existing care. I am also trained to choose safe therapies that will not interfere or interact with your medical plan.
I help you develop a comprehensive care strategy that takes into account whatever current strategies you’re using to manage your health and wherever you are on your health journey.
If you have specific questions about whether this makes sense alongside your current situation, bring them to the info call.

I get it! The time commitment is fairly contained. Test kits are done at home on your own schedule and mailed back with a prepaid label. The review session is 45 minutes. Beyond that, any recommendations are designed to be realistic and fit into your actual life, not a second job.
-
this varies depending on what is going on and how the body responds. Some people notice changes within a few weeks of making adjustments, for others it takes longer. The review session gives you a clear picture of what is happening and a realistic sense of what to expect based on your results.
-
No, and honestly that's not how this works anyway.
I know that making changes feels like a lot, and the last thing you need is a plan that requires you to overhaul your entire life to see any difference. Protocols like that tend to fall apart fast, and they should, because they're not built around you.
Any recommendations that come out of a review session are based on your actual results and shaped around what is realistic for your life, your schedule, and your preferences. The goal is something you can actually follow, not something that looks good on paper for two weeks.
Your coffee is safe.
